Jerry Akin AIA is the Assistant Administrator for the El Paso County Hospital District, including UMC University Medical Center which houses the only Level One Trauma within a 250-mile radius.
During his career, he has managed the programming, design, construction and occupancy of hundreds of healthcare projects throughout the United States. For the past ten years, he has been responsible for over $500 million of healthcare facilities in El Paso, Texas including the 2017 Construction Owner’s Association of America’s Best Medical Project Under $50M.
With extensive experience assisting healthcare clients in the development and implementation of major capital projects throughout the United States, Mr. Akin interfaces with user groups, facilities staff, designers, contractors, and code officials to ensure the project budget, schedule, and quality goals are achieved. His experience includes the supervision of planning, design, contract documents, and construction of hospitals within both the private and non-profit sectors. He was recently a keynote speaker at the International Conference for Biocontainment Facilities, the American Academy for Healthcare Executives and the Healthcare Facilities Symposium.
