Kristin Hill, Assoc. AIA, MEd, MArchDirector of Facilities Planning & ManagementUC San Diego Health
Kristin is a facilities design, construction, and planning professional with over 20 years of experience—specializing in major multi-million dollar, multi-site higher education and academic health system capital projects. For the majority of her career, she has worked in space planning, design and construction and activation for academic medical centers, most recently with the UC San Diego Health. Recent high profile initiatives include: Executive appointment as Facilities Lead for Hillcrest Medical Campus Transformation involving 5 phases of construction including Outpatient Pavilion, Parking Structure, Replacement Hospital, and multiple P3 projects, as well as strategic relocation of nearly 100 departments, representing over 150,000 DGSF; Ambulatory Expansion of 13 clinics totaling over 500k RSF in 18 months; La Jolla campus completion of the Koman Family Outpatient Pavilion and the Jacobs Medical Center projects, for a combined total of 675,000 sq ft and $1.1 billion in project costs, which included oversight of make-ready projects such as design and construction of a new central utility plant, utility cut-overs, finding swing space for offices and clinics, oversight of project delivery, and occupancy efforts. She also directed the transition planning process by leading 12 standing committees, composed of senior administration, faculty, and frontline staff, as they used lean principles to define operations and prepare for the activation of their new hospital and clinics. Kristin is an Associate member of the American Institute of Architects and holds a professional degree in architecture. Additionally, she holds masters of education degree in and has over 10 years experience as adjunct faculty teaching courses in Architecture and Planning.
