Family Advisory Council, Boston Children's Hospital
Lisa Burgess is a mother of three adult boys with varying medical complications. She has a passion for Family-Centered Care & empathy in pediatric medicine and advocates for children, adolescents and young adults with complex medical needs, developmental and related disabilities. She has decades of experience connecting staff, parents, the community, and those in need. Lisa has been part of the Boston Children’s Hospital Family Advisory Council (FAC) since 1989. The Family Advisory Council builds meaningful partnerships with hospital leadership and staff to ensure that patients and families are at the center of every decision. She serves on the Art Selection Committee and Greenspace Usergroup for the new clinical building and campus renewal. Jamie, her middle son, has been a multi-complex care patient since 1985. He has had more than 500 admissions to date and averages 60 outpatient visits per year. Lisa’s youngest, Dakota is autistic and has received care at Children’s his whole life.
