Mr. Sykes holds an AB (cum laude) from the University of California, Berkeley, an MA from Cornell University, and did post graduate work at Harvard Business School. Since 2004, he has served as co-founder and co-chair of ANSI S12 WG44 a national policy and standards development committee sanctioned by the American National Standards Institute, the Acoustical Society of America, the Institute of Noise Control Engineering, and the National Council of Acoustical Consultants. Mr. Sykes organized a led the development of the new acoustical and speech privacy (HIPAA) criteria included in the FGI-ASHE 2010 Guidelines for the Design and Construction of Health Care Facilities. In this work, Mr. Sykes worked with FGI co-chairman Kurt Rockstroh AIA, ACHA (speaker #2), and William Cavanaugh, FASA, F/INCE, F/INCE Bd. Cert., co-founder of ANSI S12 WG44.
