Kristen Hughes is Director of Arts in Healing at The Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts. A student of Life, singing, and the power of creativity, she uses her background in performing, teaching, and deep compassion for human beings in crisis to manage a program which pairs talented artists with patients in healthcare facilities. Arts in Healing offers 35 ongoing (weekly, biweekly, or monthly) arts groups in 21 facilities serving veterans, adults in substance abuse treatment, children in shelter, elders, and homeless families. All art forms are used to help participants find new tools to relieve stress, express themselves, connect with those around them, and to process emotions needed for healing. Kristen began working at The Kentucky Center in 1999, in the Ticketing Office after moving from California. Over the next 15 years she was promoted into various positions including Group Sales, IT, Program and Database Manager and finally to the perfect position-Arts in Healing.
