Leanne Cimato RN, BSN
Family Services Manager, Children's Hospital of Philadelphia
Leanne Cimato is the Manager for Family Centered Care at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. As the manager, she is responsible for ensuring family centered care is the driving force throughout the CHOP enterprise. She works to ensure patients and families are a part of the decision making at the bedside in care planning and beyond, contributing to developing the vision at CHOP. Leanne first came to CHOP in 1990 as a student nurse before graduating from West Chester University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and accepting a position as a registered nurse. She worked in medical nursing for 9 years before becoming interested in pediatric critical care, moving to a leadership position in the Pediatric Intensive Care unit. During her 14 years as a nurse in the PICU, Leanne developed an interest in technology at the bedside and worked with the Biomedical engineering and IT departments from the early stage of integrating technology into nursing work at the bedside and in organizational tools. Now in a leading position in the Family Relations program, Leanne oversees families on staff and volunteer families to help the enterprise understand that families can inform the work at the outset, bringing the family voice to research development, safety improvements and facility design. Leanne also oversees the Family Resource Centers as the hub of providing practical, comforting services to our patients and families.
