Susan Black is a founding partner and director of Perkins Eastman Black Architects Inc, the Toronto studio of Perkins Eastman Architects PC, an international firm with 700 employees and 11 offices worldwide. With more than 120 of the firm's 700 staff members focused on healthcare design, research, and related projects, the firm's healthcare practice has grown to be one of the largest in North America, providing professional services in architecture, programming, master planning, and interior design to clients across North America, China, Japan, and Dubai. The Toronto office works in close collaboration with the healthcare team in New York and, together, they have worked at some of the world's most prestigious healthcare centres and hospitals including Memorial Sloan-Kettering, New York Presbyterian Hospital, Columbia University Hospital, Cornell University Hospital, John Hopkins Medical Institutions, Duke University, and the University of Virginia, Trillium Health Centre. Ms. Black is a licensed member of the Ontario Association of Architects, a member of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada, a member of the American Institute of Architects and is licensed in New York State. She is also a member of the American Society for Healthcare Engineering, the Society for College and University Planners, and has received her Certification from the National Council for Architectural Registration Boards.
