CASE STUDY: Incorporating Interactive Kiosks into Healthcare Wayfinding
Get a behind-the-scenes look at the process and best practices involved in developing a system of interactive kiosks as part of a healthcare wayfinding signage program.
This session will outline the need for kiosks, research behind their development, and how well audiences use the technology using a project that is currently under way.
Mark VanderKlipp, the project's senior designer, will provide specifics on content, programming and process deliverables, and review issues that often arise when developing interactive kiosks along with their solutions. Project Manager Barbara Natal will describe the process from the hospital's perspective.
Attendees will be given a road map for the process should they choose to develop similar projects in their own facilities. Particular focus will be given to questions we often encounter in healthcare settings: When should interactive kiosks be considered? What audiences use these tools? How can my facility support their management and maintenance?
Learning Objectives:
Learn ways to garner staff and public support for an interactive kiosk as part of a larger healthcare campus wayfinding effort.
Learn best practices for working with a consultant to develop interactive wayfinding kiosks, from concept to final programming and implementation.
Learn how and why kiosk wayfinding information should be coordinated with more traditional wayfinding and other communications like a public Web site.
