The Symposium is fast approaching

Jenabeth Ferguson, Vice President, Symposium Director

Those long days of summer are once again shortening and before we know it the cool, crisp fall air will be here (I hope). Of course that also means the Symposium is close, in fact itís just over 3 weeks away. With the event fast approaching I thought Iíd do the same thing I did a year ago and share with you my top 3 things I am looking forward to at this yearís event.

1.† Monday is Mental Health Day! This is the brain child of our advisory board and will feature a series of sessions that address behavioral health. The sessions will highlight mental health through the consumerís eye, from the providerís perspective, by reviewing case studies and addressing what happens when the architect goes home. This is a powerful series you donít want to miss!

2. Rebekah Gregoryís keynote about her experience as a Boston Marathon Bombing Survivor. If you read this column regularly you know I am a Massachusetts girl. I was at the Boston Marathon in 2013 and left the race about 30 minutes before the bombing. I will be sitting front and center during Rebekahís speech listening to her story right along with all of you. Every year we try to kick off the event with a reminder of why we do what we do and I know Rebekah will more than deliver.

3.Technology! We have a series of short Tech Talks focusing on technology and its impact on the delivery of healthcare and how it changes the way designers need to think. We end the Symposium with a session that will really delve into Technology and the Patient Experience. I know this presentation will blow your mind. I spoke with the panelists last week after reviewing their presentation. They are really going to get you thinking and be a great closing to the event. (And yes I realize I snuck in two things in my 3rd).

As this is my last column before we all gather in Orlando, let me take a few more minutes of your time to point out 5 sessions that you need to be putting on your schedule. These sessions came from our May Advisory Board meeting when I asked the board members to put together their sample schedules.

Demystifying reimbursements and their impact on physical space

The Sprint within the Marathon: Operational Workflow Development

How to use the LEGO philosophy to enrich the life of an IPD Lite project

Defining Culture & Enhancing Brand Identity to Develop Patient Loyalty

There is so much happening at this yearís Symposium that will help you connect with the real thought-leaders and top business minds in our industry. Be sure you have registered for your conference pass.

I look forward to seeing in you Orlando!
