Ramesh Gulatee AIA/NCARB
Architect, USA/Canada, Architecture for Special Needs Community, LifeCare Design Studio
Ramesh Gulatee, a licensed architect in the U.S. and Canada, is the principal of the LifeCare Design Studio, LLC. The LifeCare Design Studio emphasizes and develops barrier-free and universal access strategies by offering ADA consultancy, planning, design and building services for specialized homes for existing and new situations and assisted-living in community settings. Ramesh brings more than 25 years of experience to the firm, most of which were spent working as an independent consultant on numerous challenging projects around the world, including Brazil, Egypt, Italy, Switzerland and Canada. Ramesh has participated internationally in architectural design competitions where he has won several design prizes.
Ramesh's most notable work with the disabilities community was the design of the Canadian Government sponsored housing project the World War II veterans for which Ramesh was project architect and manager. In 2004, LifeCare Design Studio became affiliated with Protected Tomorrows, Inc., a national advocacy firm that provides life planning for families and individuals with special needs. Ramesh's philosophy of design recognizes that a living environment is much more than bricks and mortar. It is about giving the individuals the opportunity to live, work and play to their fullest. On the accessibility awareness mission, Ramesh has been a guest speaker at the World Congress on Disabilities, Philadelphia in Nov 2006 and at the Abilities Conference in New Jersey, Minneapolis in 2007. He has been requested to speak at Spina Bifida convention in October, 2007 and in Calif. in June, 2007. He is a serving member of the Architectural Review Board of the Village of Lincolnshire, Il.
On a personal level, Ramesh is a member of various advocacy organisations i.e; Autism, Spina Bifida, Angelman's Society and has working relationships with the Special Olympics, Il and is a contributing writer to Exceptional Parent (special needs) magazine.
